Much current research in medicine and biology focuses on achieving a deep understanding of the biological processes underlying complex diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer. These insights have been made possible by rapid advances in new biotechnologies that have generated a myriad of high-throughput data, including transcriptomics, proteomics, and genomics data. While each of these omics data provides important insights, these are typically one-dimensional views of the biological system. To that end we believe a more comprehensive view can be provided through vertically integrative analysis.
